To create a Facebook ad campaign, Facebook has provided two tools

  1. Facebook ads manager
  2. Power editor.

These two tools are absolutely free, you can create your first Facebook ad using one of these tools.

Facebook Ads manager:

Facebook ads manager is easy to understand for the new user. For a beginner I recommend you to use Facebook ads manager as compared to power editor.

Power Editor is a complex tool that mainly uses for handling multiple ad campaigns.

By using Facebook ads manager, you can:

       1. Create new ad campaign

       2. Manage Facebook ads

       3. Keep Track of your ad campaign

       4. Target many different audiences.

       5. Observe the ad performance.

Ads manager consist of three levels. Here actually magic happens.

Campaign: Select your campaign name and objective.

Ad set: Here you can target your audience and budget.

Ads: Your actual ad live with your ad set. You can add an image, video, and text.

How to use Facebook ads manager:

Step1: Choose to create ads

Log in your Facebook account and click on the drop-down arrow in the upper right corner of the Facebook page.

Step 2: Choose campaign name and objective

A campaign is the top level of Facebook campaign structure. Each campaign contains different ad set and ad set contain several ads.

The objectives are:

  • Brand awareness
  • Reach
  • Traffic
  • Engagement
  • App installs
  • Video views
  • Lead generation
  • Conversions
  • Message
  • Catalogue sales
  • Store visits

Step 3: Set up your targeting audience

Decide how to want to see your ads. There are two options create new and use a saved audience.

If you have used ads manager before and you have to save audience at the time of campaign creation in that case you’re able to choose the saved audience.

When you choose to “create a new” option, you are able to create a new audience.

In which you can select audience according:

Location: Target ads at people based on location (e.g. country, city, and state)

Age: Target ads at the audience within an age range.

Gender: Target ad according gender (all, men, and woman).

Language: Target ads at users of the certain language.

Detailed targeting: Include or exclude the user from an audience based on interest and demographics.

Connections: Include or exclude people from your audience based on connection to your pages.

 

Step 4:  Place your ad

Here you can show ads to the right people in the right places.

With automatic placements, Facebook will show the ad where your ads showing best result.

In edit ad option your audience must be narrow down. If you are focusing on specific devices and platform only then you can choose edit option otherwise got with a recommended option.

Your ad will be shown on the different platform like; Instagram, massager, audience network and Facebook news feeds.

You can specify device category and operating system as well.

Step 5: Set up your ad budget and schedule

After selecting your targeted audience and ad placements, you will reach final step of ad set level I.e. budget and schedule.

You can define your daily or lifetime budget. You have to spend minimum 0.6$(INR.40) daily i.e. Facebook criteria.

Step 6: Set up your ad.

As the final level of the Facebook ad campaign, you can create your ad and insert image, video, and text.

After selecting create the ad, you have to select your Facebook page and Instagram account.

We recommend both the account, but you don’t have an Instagram business account don’t worry, you can create your Instagram business profile with ease.

There is four type of ad format:

Carousel: Creates an ad with 2 or more image or video.

Single image: Create an ad with a single image. You can create up to 6 ads with one image.

Single video: Create the ad with a single video.

Slideshow: Creates a looping video ad. You can create an ad with up to 10 images.

 

Step 7: Choose link and image

You can select an image, video, and text in this area. Facebook has recommended the size of image i.e. 1080 × 1080 pixels.

To increase your ad view and likes you have to use image or video. Image with 20% text content is recommended.

You can also insert your business website URL.

Step 8: Confirm the ad

After completion of your all levels, you have to confirm your campaign. You will reach payment details window.

Where you can fill your card details and your first Facebook ad campaign will be activated.

How to use power editor:

Power Editor is a tool that helps businesses manage multiple campaigns or a large number of creatives.

If your digital marketer or developer use the power editor tool. You can run multiple ads in power editor tool.

It is quite complex to understand for the new user. It has same levels as ads manger but different layouts and functionalities.

The feature of this tool is to manage several ads at a time. You can edit or track your ads performance.

click “Go to power editor” button at the bottom of the page.

You will reach power editor dashboard, where you can create the new campaign.

Step 1: Create a new campaign

The first step in power editor is to assign a name to the campaign, ad set, and ad. Choose campaign objective as same as ads manager.

You have to decide which campaign objective is suitable for your business.

Here is the same objective as ads manager (brand awareness, traffic, lead generation and page likes etc.).

After assigning campaign name, campaign objective, ad set name and ad name click on “save to draft”.

As compare to ads manager power editor has the option to save campaign in the draft. In ads manager, you have to finish all campaign steps and after that, your ad will be activated.

 

Step 2: Set up your audience, budget and ad placements.

The second step is to set up your targeting people and budget.

After campaign level, you move on next level i.e. ad set level.

Select “edit” option i.e. next to duplicate button.

Your ad has more opportunities to get more relevant results as you increase your daily budget.

You have the option to set starting and ending date of the campaign.

In audience section, you can set up your audience on basis of location, age, gender, language and detailed audience.

The custom audience is an existing audience who visited your website. You can retarget that audience by using Facebook pixel.

The power editor has the option to save your lookalike audience. So you can use that audience in future.

In placement section, there are two types

Automatic placements: Facebook recommends you to select this option. Your ad will be automatically shown to your targeted audience in the place where your ads perform best.

Step 3: Set up your ad

In this level, you can create the actual ad that you want to show people.

In identity section, you have to select your Facebook business page.

We recommend you to choose the Instagram account that represents your business.

Add an image, video, and text that describe what business you’re running.

You can check your ad preview on the right side, there are lots of option provided by Facebook like mobile news feed, desktop news feed, Instagram feed etc.

After completion of 3 level, select “review draft items”. You can review your campaign and make payment. You can save your ads and use anytime you want.
